Turritella Fossils Agatized Green River A These turritella fossils are agatized coquinite of the Green River Formation. This piece is 3 1/2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide and about one inch thick. The fossils are from the Eocene Epoch, and are about 38 to 54 million years old. This piece was found in Wyoming. You can see in the picture several turritellas exposed. What you cannot see is that this rock is composed almost entirely of turritella shells! $25.00 Each |

Turritella is a rather inexpensive,
gray semi-precious stone with white to gray to pink fossils. The Chinese
variety is generally crinoids--which comprised huge ancient underwater
forests before they were buried and fossilized. The Wyoming variety is
generally fossilized snails. Sometimes called Fossil Jasper or Turritella
Agate. (NOTE: All beads/stones can be assumed to be about a Grade B and
